The 139 555-7 was delivered to the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1964 as
the E 40 1555. As part of the fleet of locomotives designed for
working on steep gradients, it featured an electric rheostatic
brake and was classified as Class 139 in 1968. For many decades,
this robust standard locomotive served with DB and later DB AG.
After its withdrawal from service with DB in 2010, the 139 555 was
acquired by Lokomotion Gesellschaft für Schienentraktion. There,
this historic locomotive was given the company’s distinctive
white-and-blue "Zebra" livery.
