Historical context
In August 2005, Cisalpino leased several Class 484 locomotives to
streamline their EuroCity services between Berne, Geneva, and
Milan. The deployment of these locomotives eliminated the need for
changes at national borders, significantly reducing travel times
and improving the efficiency of international rail services. The
locomotives were notably painted in a distinctive silver, red, and
light blue livery, marking their first use in passenger train
operations. The extended use of these locomotives until the end of
2007 was necessitated by delays in the delivery of new rolling
stock, thereby extending their operational life and historical
significance in European rail history.
