The locomotives were notably painted in a distinctive silver, red, and light blue livery, marking their first use in passenger train operations. The extended use of these locomotives until the end of 2007 was necessitated by delays in the delivery of new rolling stock, thereby extending their operational life and historical significance in European rail history.
