The steam locomotives of the Ty2 class of the Polish State Railways
were used from 1942. It is a class 52 war locomotive of the German
State Railway. After the Second World War, 1,207 locomotives from
this class remained with the PKP. Until steam traction was no
longer used, the Ty2 was the largest locomotive series in Poland.
Several locomotives from this class have survived to this day.
