successors to the express trains of the time. The service
introduced by the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1988 was defined in the
train timetable as a supra-regional train with superior comfort.
The InterRegio trains ran every two hours, reached an average
operating speed of 90 km/h with a top speed of 200 km/h and
included a bistro-café coach.
