Diesel locomotive 2143 062 of the Regiobahn.
New design!
■ Version of the 3rd series with a straight frame
■ Regiobahn design
■ Free-standing grab rails, some made of metal
A large part of the 2143 class locomotive stock consisted of the
third production series, which was further divided into subclasses.
The so-called 3a class included running numbers 2143.34 – 43, while
the 3b class covered 2143.44 – 70. All engines in the third series
share several common features: the frame has a straight design and,
unlike the first series, is not cranked. The areas around the
driver's cab doors have long rain gutters, and the door windows are
framed in metal. Likewise, the fuel filling sections were
redesigned with different dimensions. After being taken out of
service, many locomotives were sold to private railways in Germany
and abroad. Some vehicles are now assigned to museum duty, while
others remain in loyal service in the infrastructure sector.
