When the Class 1041 was built, it was the first time that the
company Simmering-Graz-Pauker AG had been involved in developing
locomotives. AEG, BBC, ELIN and SSW were responsible for the
electrical part. From 1952, 25 locomotives were delivered to the
Austrian Federal Railways.
The locomotive 1041.11 was put into service in Salzburg on January
14, 1953. Its factory number was SGP-Graz 52742/1952, and the
electrical components were sourced from BBC. Between December 1980
and November 1981, it underwent a general HG overhaul. At that
time, the locomotive was stationed in Attnang-Puchheim, where it
remained until it was taken out of service on November 30, 2001.
