The former leasing company CB Rail S.à r.l., based in Luxembourg,
was the second customer to order 25 TRAXX MS2e (multi-system)
locomotives from Bombardier. Ten of these locomotives were to be
equipped with D-A-CH-I country packages. The ten locomotives were
given the numbers 186 901-910 when they were delivered to CB Rail.
The locomotives were sold to Macquarie European Rail in 2013 and to
the current owner Akiem in 2020.
The 186 901-910 were the first TRAXX F140 MS2e with Swiss approval
to be used in commercial operation. The first seven locomotives
with the numbers 186 901-907 appeared in regular Swiss service at
the beginning of 2008. CB Rail leased the light grey and white
class 186s to the Swiss company Crossrail AG. The numbers 186
908-910 were leased to the Italian company Linea S.p.A. and were
used for freight transport within Italy. It was not until April
2014 that the three locomotives were also transferred to
Crossrail.
The entire locomotive fleet was leased to Crossrail until 2017,
before being leased to TXL for another 3 years with CR lettering.
From 2021, the locomotives were transferred to SBBCI, which meant
that the last locomotives also lost their Crossrail lettering. The
186 905 was the only locomotive to retain the white running number
on the front from the time of delivery to the very end. The
Crossrail lettering also remained on the locomotive until the end
of 2020.
