In the late 1950s, the increasing transport of powdery materials,
particularly cement, created a demand for new silo wagons. These
wagons, owned by cement and lime manufacturers, were used to
transport bulk goods and became part of the CSD fleet as "P"
wagons, which stood for private wagons.
