The original model of the class 151 locomotives has a power output of 5.962 kW (8.100 hp), weighs 118 tonnes and has a top speed of 120 km/h. A total of 170 units of this heavy goods train locomotive were delivered in the years between 1972 and 1978. DB Cargo AG is selling 200 locomotives to a consortium including the companies Railpool and Toshiba. According to the DB Group, the class 151 electric locomotives and other vehicles can be rented after the sale, which also gives DB Cargo the option to lease up to 100 locomotives, depending on the order situation. The rest of the locomotives are to be offered on the open market.
