Diesel multiple unit ALn 668 1207 in "Inox" livery
During the construction of the ALn 668 in the late 1970s,
experiments were conducted to manufacture the side walls of the
body entirely from stainless steel instead of regular painted
steel, in order to drastically reduce the maintenance effort for
the body concerning oxidation and corrosion due to normal
operation.
Unit 1207 was therefore delivered in September 1979 with unpainted
stainless steel sides, with only the driver's cabs featuring the
canonical livery, giving the vehicle a very distinctive appearance
that it maintained until the XMPR coating in the 2000s.
