Electric locomotive CC 6541 Maurienne in green livery

The CC 6500 "Maurienne" (CC 6539 to 6559), delivered between 1971 and 1972, were intended for less prestigious services on the Culoz-Chambéry-Modane route. They received a green livery and were equipped with pantographs for operation on the third rail.

Starting in 1977, their third rail equipment was gradually dismantled, and they were indiscriminately used alongside the other "red" CC 6500 on the Southeast network.

Some "Maurienne" locomotives were repainted in the "Grand Confort" color in the mid-1980s. The CC 6549, 6558, and 6559 from the Vénissieux depot are among the last machines to be decommissioned in July 2007.
