The Ee 3/3 IV represents the most modern version of the Ee 3/3 and it was specially designed for service in frontier stations. The complicated equipment needed for four different electrical systems required a higher and wider body in front of and behind the cab and a reduction in power. Nevertheless, thanks to a modern crank drive, a maximum speed of 60 km/h can be attained.

The Ee 3/3 IV are used in French frontier stations (mostly Geneva - series 16551 to 16556) and Italian frontier stations (mostly Chiasso - series 16557 to 16560) on similar duty to previous versions. All locomotives were equipped with a multiple drive in 1994 similar to the Ee 3/3 II series. During the upgrade the locomotives received new service numbers: Ee 934.

They were occasionally used to haul passenger trains between La Plaine and Geneva when the SBB-CFF-FFS BDe 4/4 II were being repaired, due to the 1500V DC catenary.

1994

Between 1994 to 1998 the locomotives undergo an important modernisation process at Yverdon workshops and become the Ee 934 551 to 560 series.

2012

Ee 934 560 is modernised by ABB Sécheron and becomes Ee 933 001.
