1969

The 40x units from this series are built between 1969 and 1970.

Each coach comprises 9x 1st class compartments with 6x seats each. Washrooms are provided adjacent to the toilets, and public address loudsprakers are fitted.

NB: units 005 - 009 are equipped with disc brakes as an experiment.

1972

In 1972, units 002 and 011 are destroyed following a fire in St Triphon.

1977

The steam heating originally fitted is removed between 1977 and 1980.

1988

Units 51 85 19-70 000-0 & 51 85 19-70 027-3 are discarded in 1988 following a fire in Verbania.

1997

From 1997, 32x units are converted to escort cars for HUPAC and are registered as Db 05-10 000 - 031 (the first 10x units are initially registered Db 05-70 000 - 009 before being renumbered Db 05-10 000 - 009 in 2000).

1999

In 1999, unit Am 51 85 19-70 017-4 is converted to SRm 09-70 150 owned by Rail In-Club.
