2004

The Re 484 is an electric locomotive series built by Bombardier Transport, specifically the Traxx F140 MS type, featuring various integrated safety and control systems including ZUB, Signum, RS 4 codici, SCMT, and ETCS 2. According to the UIC numbering system, these locomotives are designated within the range 91 85 4484 001 to 021.

Between 2005 and 2007, these locomotives were leased to Trenitalia for operating the EuroCity (EC) trains between Switzerland and Italy. During this time, they were painted in a distinctive grey and red "Cisalpino" livery. The Re 484 021 holds a unique distinction as the only locomotive in the series to be given a name, dubbed "Gottardo."

Since January 8, 2021, the locomotives have been transferred from SBB Cargo International to SBB Cargo for domestic use in Switzerland and are no longer authorized to operate in Italy.
