1929

The units from this series are built in 1929 and are designed with a focus on both functionality and aesthetics. Similar to the series WPC 4148 - 4164, these units are equipped with a kitchen.

For the decoration of these exceptional vehicles, the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL) collaborates with renowned artists to elevate the visual appeal of the interiors. One notable contributor is René Lalique, a master glassmaker celebrated for his innovative work. Lalique introduces a new principle for crystal, employing moulded glass parts for the interior walls of the railway cars. This artistic choice not only adds elegance but also reflects the high standards of craftsmanship associated with the CIWL's offerings.
