DB Cargo Romania maintains a specialized fleet of three 060-EA electric locomotives, which represent the foundational heritage of the company's electric traction. Rated at 5'100 kW (approximately 6'800 hp), these units are the senior members of the fleet, serving as a bridge between the classic era of Romanian rail and modern heavy-haul standards.

The 060-EA series is an iconic symbol of Romanian engineering, produced by Electroputere Craiova under a license from the Swedish pioneer ASEA. Since the first units rolled off the line in 1967, more than 1'000 locomotives were built based on this robust six-axle (Co'Co') design. For over 50 years, they have served as the primary workhorse for both passenger and freight services in Romania, proving their exceptional reliability and efficiency across the difficult terrain of the Carpathian Mountains.

While all three locomotives share the same legendary DNA, DB Cargo Romania operates them in two distinct technical configurations:
the "Classic": Represented by EA 1077, this is the last "truly classical" unit in the fleet. It retains its original 1960s analog architecture but has been updated with a completely renewed pneumatic installation to ensure safety and reliability in modern service.
The "Modernized": Units 91 53 0 470 774-7 and 91 53 0 470 783-8 have undergone extensive modernization by Softronic Craiova.
