Beilhack Rotary Snow Blower, ÖBB

Beilhack Rotary Snow Blower of the Austrian Federal Railways.

Model with digital decoder and digitally switchable sound and light functions as well as buffer capacitor for uninterruptible power supply.

- Self-propelled model
- Rich detailing on the model which has many digitally switchable functions such as lifting and lowering of the snow cutter and rotating impeller blades
- Entire vehicle platform can be turned 180 degrees

In order to replace the old steam-powered snow blower, the ÖBB started to operate self-propelled snow blower in the period between 1975 and 1982. The snow blowers were produced by the Bavarian company "Beilhack" and then delivered to Austria. The advantage of the Beilhack snow blowers was an easier handling. So no additional traction unit is needed for the operation. Another big advantage is that the snow blower can automatically change direction, since the complete vehicle platform can be turned 180 degrees. The snow blowers were used all over Austria, today as in the past, however, Carinthia, Salzburg and Tyrol were considered the main operation regions.
