25x units from this series are built between 1972 - 1975.

The first 2x units of the series, units A 18-34 000 & 001, have modified bogies equipped with tilting technology but this technology is not retained for the other coaches of the series.

Like the entire rolling stock used for the Swiss Express service, these coaches are equipped with AK69 automatic couplings.

1986

Unit A 18-34 017 is converted to AD 81-34 006.

2004

18x units from this series are sold to the Bern–Lötschberg–Simplon Railway - BLS where:
- 11x units (units A 18-34 002 - 003, 010 - 011, 014, 018 & 020 - 024) are kept as 1st class passenger coaches and are registered as A 18-34 002 - 024 (with gaps as these coaches keep their initial number);
- 3x units (units A 18-34 005, 008 & 015) are converted to 2nd class passenger coaches and are registered as B 28-34 030 - 032;
- 2x units (units A 18-34 004 & 013) are converted to mixed 1st class / 2nd class passenger coaches and are registered as ABS 81-34 007 - 008;
- 2x units (units A 18-34 006 & 009) are converted to 2nd class passenger coaches with control cab and are registered as Bt 28-34 997 - 998.
