Based on pilot units Tm 301 - 306 and Tm 896, the series production starts in 1960 and by 1965 107x units are delivered. These units are built by Robert Aebi AG - RACO (factory designation 85 LA 7) and by Constructions Mécaniques S.A. - Renens (CMR).

The first 39x units are initially registered as Tm 330 - 368. In 1963, these units receive new registration numbers Tm^I 407 - 445.

The following 68x units are registered as Tm^I 446 - 513.
