1973

In 1973, 6 European railways ordered a total of 500 coaches designed for use on international railway routes in Europe. The order was commissioned by the European Company for the Financing of Railroad Rolling Stock (Eurofima) and so the coaches are called the "Eurofima coach" or "European Standard Coach".

The other railway companies involved in the project and the number of coaches ordered:
- Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) : 25x Amoz 19-71.0 and 75x Bmoz 21-71.0;
- German Federal Railways (DB) : 100x Avmz 207;
- Italian State Railways (FS) : 30x Az 19-90 and 70x Bz 21-90;
- French National Railway Company (SNCF) : 100x A9u;
- National Railway Company of Belgium (SNCB NMBS) : 20x A9 and 60x B11.

The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) orders 20x 1st class coaches that enter service in 1977.

Initially registered 61 85 19-70 500 - 519, these units will be renumbered 61 85 19-90 500 - 519 after being upgraded for a maximum speed of 200 km/h.

2011

In 2011, 2x units are sold to DB Fernverkehr (a division of Deutsche Bahn that operates long-distance passenger trains in Germany) where, after being refitted at the SBB Olten plant, they are registered as Bwmz207.9.

An option for 13x additional units is cancelled due to the unfavourable Swiss franc exchange rate at the time.
