2009

From 2009, SJ began to modernise the 1980s wagons and all remaining B8 and B9 carriages are converted back to B7 while some A7 1st class carriages are also converted to B7 2nd class carriages.

The interior differs slightly between the various modernised wagons depending on which wagon type they are converted from. They have therefore been given a distinctive additional letter:
wagons rebuilt from A7 receive the letter A and are identified as B7A;
wagons rebuilt from B8 (registration numbers 5276 - 5293) receive the letter B and are identified as B7B;
wagons rebuilt from B9 receive the letter C and are identified as B7C.

Some original B7 carriages are also modernised and receive the letter F and are identified as B7F (these differ from B7A/B/C in that the old seats have been retained).
