The 6x Re 4/4^II prototypes are built in 1964 by Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works (SLM), Brown, Boveri & Compagnie (BBC), Oerlikon Machine Factory (MFO) and Sécheron Workshops (SAAS).

These units are registered 11201 to 11206.

These locomotives have only one pantograph, originally a scissor pantograph replaced later on by a single-arm pantograph on some units.

1967

The production series starts in 1967 and in the first batch 49x units are delivered, registered Re 4/4^II 11107 - 11155.

The 6x prototypes are renumbered from 11201 - 11206 to 11101 - 11106 the same year.
