2004

As the Cisalpino railway company takes over the EuroCity (EC) regular services between Switzerland and Italy in 2004, 20x units from this series (Bpm 61 85 20-90 309 - 328) receive the Cisalpino livery but remain the property of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS).

2008

In February 2008, the SBB CFF FSS Board of Directors decided to upgrade the EuroCity coaches for a budget up to CHF 137 million. Started in 2009, the modernisation process included better access for people with reduced mobility, closed circuit toilets and power outlets as well as air-conditiong for the coaches that were not already equipped.
