The Prussian State Railway developed the passenger train locomotive
of type P 8 to meet the increased demands of passenger and express
train traffic. By 1923, German manufacturers had already built more
than 3,700 of these versatile, triple-coupled locomotives. The P 8

locomotives for local passenger transport for the PKP and were
designated as the Class Ok1. Over the years, 429 locomotives of
this class were used by the PKP.
