The growing demand for transporting powdered materials —
particularly cement — in the late 1950s led to the need for new
silo wagons. The wagons used for bulk transport of such goods were
owned by cement and lime manufacturers and registered in the ČSD
fleet as P-wagons, i.e. private owner wagons.
