ACME (Anonima Costruzioni Modellistiche Esatte) was founded in 2001 in Milan, Italy, by a group of passionate railway enthusiasts and experts, including Walter Bellagente and Michele Mingari. From its inception, the company aimed to fill a specific void in the market for high-fidelity Italian (FS) prototypes, which were often underrepresented by the larger European manufacturers of the time. The brand quickly gained a reputation for precision with its first release—the Type T2S sleeping cars—setting a new benchmark for the "fine scale" community by prioritizing absolute prototypical accuracy over mass-market durability.
