1921

The first 50x units from this series are built in 1921 by Rheinische Metallwaaren und Maschinenfabrik in Düsseldorf based on the G 10 steam locomotive type.

They are initially registered as Series 5501 - 5550. The registration plates are replaced in the mid. `30s to display the new registration 50.101 - 50.150.

The same year 52x additional units are delivered:
- 20x units built by A. Borsig in Berlin are registered 050.151 - 050.170;
- 17x units built by Friedrich Krupp Maschinenfabrik in Essen are registered 050.171 - 050.187;
- another 15x units built by Rheinische Metallwaaren und Maschinenfabrik in Düsseldorf are registered 050.188 - 050.202.

1923

40x additional units from this series are delivered in 1923:
- 12x units built by Orenstein & Koppel in Berlin are registered 050.203 - 050.214;
- 10x units built by A. Borsig in Berlin are registered 050.215 - 050.224;
- 10x units built by Rheinische Metallwaaren und Maschinenfabrik in Düsseldorf are registered 050.225 - 050.234;
- another 8x units built by Orenstein & Koppel in Berlin are registered 050.235 - 050.242.

1926

The numbering system is simplified and the "0" in front of the series is dropped, thus Series 050.100 becomes Series 50.100.

1926

June 10

The first locomotive built in Romania was unit 50.243 (named "Regele Ferdinand" - "King Ferdinand") at the Uzinele Resita - UDR in Resita.

This unit was set in motion for the first time by King Ferdinand himself during a ceremony in the presence of the royal family that took place in Resita on June 10th, 1926.

By the end of the year a total of 10x locomotives were built in Resita and delivered to CFR, registered 50.243 - 50.252.

1926 - 1927

51x additional locomotives are received by CFR from Germany on account of war reparations:
- 42x second hand units ex. DR 57 locomotives built between 1919 and 1924, registered 50.253 - 50.294 (delivered by the end of 1926);
- 9x new locomotives built by Jung in Germany, registered 50.295 - 50.303 (delivered in 1927).

1927

Units 50.304 - 50.339 are delivered by URD in Resita (Romania) between 1927 and 1928.

1928

December 18

The first locomotive built at Malaxa factory in Bucharest is steam locomotive 50.340 named "Regele Mihai" ("King Mihai"). It leaves the factory grounds on December 18th, 1928.

9x units registered 50.341 - 50.349 are delivered shortly after.

1929

Between 1929 and 1944, 454x steam locomotives from this series are built in Romania at the 2 factories in Bucharest and Resita:
- 50.350 - 50.379 built by UDR between 1928 - 1929;
- 50.380 - 50.389 built by Malaxa in 1929;
- 50.470 - 50.494 built by UDR in 1929;
- 50.495 - 50.529 built by Malaxa in 1930;
- 50.530 - 50.564 built by UDR between 1930 - 1931;
- 50.565 - 50.682 built by Malaxa between 1931 - 1935;
- 50.683 - 50.703 built by UDR in 1935;
- 50.704 - 50.705 built by Malaxa in 1935;
- 50.706 - 50.731 built by UDR between 1935 - 1938;
- 50.732 - 50.773 built by Malaxa in 1938;
- 50.774 - 50.883 built by Malaxa and UDR between 1938 - 1944.

1930

The last units built in Germany (ordered on August 24th, 1929) are delivered to CFR in 1930 and are registered 50.390 - 50.469.
