ÖBB ordered 45x combined 1st / 2nd class coaches very similar to the Eurofima coaches but fitted with SGP VS-RIC 75 bogies capable to sustain 160 km/h maximum speeds.

The interior is divided in 4x 1st class compartments and 6x 2nd class compartments.

20 coaches of this type were delivered in 1978: ABmz 30-70 000 to 019.

Initially registered as ABmoz type, the "o" was dropped in 1982.

1996

From 1996 to 1998, the air conditioning from 15 coaches was removed in order to be installed in coaches Bcmz 59-70.0 .

Later on, new air conditioners were installed but were only compatible for domestic use in Austria.

All 15 modified coaches were registered as ABmz 30-75 .

July 7th

ABmz 30-70 019 was involved in the collision at Mallnitz train station on July 7th, 2000, and was discarded soon after.

2001

All 29x remaining vehicles from series ABmz 30-70.0 were modernised between 2001 and 2009 (ÖBB "Upgrading-Programm").

During this phase some coaches were upgraded for speeds up to 200 km/h, with all the remaining units being upgraded at a later stage. All coaches from this series capable of 200 km/h were given a new registration number: ABmz 30-90 .
