Rails Europ Express (REE) Modèles

REE Modèles was founded in 2008 in France by Christophe Chapelle, a passionate railway enthusiast who sought to bring a new level of precision to the French modeling market. The company’s name, an acronym for Réseau d'Échanges Entre Modélistes (Modelers' Exchange Network), reflects its community-driven origins and its commitment to meeting the high expectations of serious collectors. Initially making its mark with meticulously detailed H0 (1:87) scale freight wagons, the brand quickly established a reputation for "super-detailing," utilizing a high count of individually mounted parts that had previously been the domain of expensive brass models.

The company’s philosophy is rooted in absolute prototypical accuracy, focusing primarily on the French National Railway (SNCF) from the steam era to the modern day. REE Modèles is celebrated for its ability to capture the specific "personality" of French locomotives, from the iconic Mikado steam engines to modern diesel and electric units. Their engineering process involves extensive use of original blueprints and 3D laser scanning of surviving prototypes, ensuring that every rivet, cooling grill, and cab fitting is correctly placed. This dedication to realism extends to their later expansion into the N (1:160) scale, where they have applied the same high-fidelity standards to a smaller format.

Technically, REE Modèles is a leader in integrating advanced digital features into their rolling stock. They were among the first to popularize "pulsed smoke" systems in French steam models, which synchronize the exhaust with the movement of the cylinders and the sound of the engine. Their models often feature factory-installed ESU decoders, high-quality speakers, and functional lighting that includes cab and engine room illumination. Today, operating from its headquarters in Nangis, REE Modèles is recognized as a premier premium brand, favored by enthusiasts who demand a combination of artistic finish and cutting-edge technical performance on their layouts.
